Corey Monroe
Development Project Manager
Corey Monroe joined MCC in 2024 as the Development Project Manager. Corey brings extensive experience working in both the public and the private sectors to facilitate the development of affordable and workforce housing. Corey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) with a Bachelor of Professional Accountancy degree and a minor in Finance. While at SVSU, he was also a member of the Vitito Global Leadership Institute, the program of distinction within the College of Business.
Following graduation, Corey joined the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) as a Tax Credit Analyst with the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program. In his 2.5 years and 5 funding rounds at MSHDA, he was part of allocating over $500 million in federal tax credits to fund affordable housing developments across the state of Michigan. Additionally, Corey managed a portfolio of those affordable housing projects following their allocation of funding, assisted with trainings, and engaged with internal and external stakeholders throughout the Qualified Allocation Plan update process.
Corey joined Haan Development in 2019 as a Development Coordinator, eventually becoming a Vice President of Development. While there, he managed 9 developments totaling over $80 million in primarily rural areas in 3 different states. His most recent project marked the company’s first entry into workforce housing development.
Corey loves living in downtown Petoskey with his wife and two daughters. He also owns a mobile coffee catering cart, is an active member of the Little Traverse Bay Housing Partnership, Petoskey Run Club, and is a board member of InvestMitt Community Capital.
